Strategies Essay There are many strategies that help promote changes but it is difficult to come across strategies that work on a long-term and permanent basis. Kotter’s strategy regarding the 8-stage process for organizational change works due to its ease in manageability and clearly defined goals. The first stage entitled, â€Å"establishing a sense of urgency† relates to examining the market and what would work best as well as examining the crisis as well. This ensures that there are fewer setbacks after a careful examination of the situation thereby delivering a positive culture in the state of change. The second and third stage entitled, â€Å"creating the guiding location† and â€Å"developing a vision strategy† help in clarifying the objectives and a team is gathered for a complete effort. The fourth and fifth stage entitled, â€Å"communicating the change in vision† and â€Å"empowering broad-based actions† mostly relate to inducing positive effects i n the organization by helping the team understand the essence of change and its need. The sixth stage entitled, â€Å"generating short-term wins† actually encourages the team towards rewards of any success that the organization may achieve through the change that has been incorporated by the organization. The seventh stage entitled, â€Å"consolidating gains and producing more change† is aimed at hiring personnel who can effectively work with the change thereby making the aims of the organizational change permanent and further reinvigorating the process with the new projects. The last stage entitled, â€Å"anchoring new approaches in the culture† mainly aims at supporting the changes in the organization by acting on all the above stages thereby enhancing the leadership development and succession at large. Therefore, Kotter’s eight-stage process induces a positive effect on the organizational change thereby helping the organization achieve its goals. This much is a brief account of the physical facts of the phenomenon. But crucially, it is a poor substitute for what it is to experience those two different colors. Even the analogy of yellow and blue give a conceptual understanding but no clue as to what the two reds might look like. This is the major shortcoming of physicalism and hence the introduction of qualia into the discussion. I totally agree with Jackson’s emphasis on qualia and its centrality to discussing sensory experience. Therefore, I propose a computerised database system. Package V Programming Solution For ease, and speed of use, I propose to use the package option. I choose this because the options for everything the database needs are already there, and rather than waste time trying to find a way to make these options in my own programming solution, I will save much time and effort using the package MS ACCESS 97. Also, my programming skills are next to nothing. The Package: Advantages: * Easier to learn as very little programming is involved * The tools for creating the user interface are already available, built into the program which makes construction of the database far quicker. The date field will be set to take only the U.K. format, which is the same as above, whereas the American format is MM/DD/YY. Date of registration: the staff will fill this in as the data is entered. The same validation checks as above will be entered. Members full address: The staff can check this in the same way as the name, age etc. They should ask for any forms of identification which contain all this information. Members telephone number: Validation for this will be rather difficult, as there are very few, if any, forms of identification that give out a telephone number for legal reasons. Therefore, the number should be phoned as soon as possible to verify that the phone number is correct. Suppliers Suppliers are not going to give out false information to a company/shop, not if they want to stay in business. This means that Project will not have to worry about finding out if information is true, but making sure it is entered correctly. I.D. number: This is entered in the same way as the i.d. field for the members database. Name of supplier: As mentioned above, the only problem is making sure that this goes in properly e.g. Shorttys instead of Shortys. Address of supplier: This is an absolute must to be entered correctly. Whereas in the name, if a mistake was made, it would still be easy to tell what the name was. However, in the address, a mistake in the number or street could go unnoticed, therefore delivering orders, mail etc to the wrong address. Phone number of supplier: This, again, must be entered correctly for the reasons listed above. Project could find themselves desperately short of stock if they could not contact the suppliers to place orders. Name of product supplied: Not only does Project have a large list of suppliers, each supplier also has a list of products supplied to Project. This means that there is a lot of data to do with stock needing to be entered correctly. Again, the only way to do this is visually making sure there is no mistake when entering in the data. Item number: Every product has a different item number. This insures the uniqueness of each product, so that the stock system knows exactly what product is sold. Type of product: Project doesnt just sell skateboards. They sell shoes, clothes, accessories, hardware, safety gear and more. Rather than have to check in the storeroom what a product is, the database can simply tell them. This must have the type entered correctly. The only chance of a typo occurring in this is if I make a mistake during the implementation. The data in this field is selected from a drop-down list. Price of product: If the price is wrong, customers will be over/under charged. This will not be good for Project. If they undercharge, they lose money. If they overcharge, they lose customers. Therefore it is greatly important that the price is entered correctly.

Changing Lives from the Other Side â€Å"To teach is to touch lives forever† is a popular phrase that teachers like to be reminded of. I know this because they almost all have it framed on their desk, up on their walls on posters, or have a t-shirt with the theme on it. Another is â€Å"To teach a child is to change the world.† I haven’t been a teacher, but I work with children and with children’s health at The Little Gym, and I volunteer at the homeless center’s children’s activity room. I can’t say that I’ve touched or changed their lives, but I know that they’ve changed my view on love more than anything else has.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  All other humans, and I first learned about love from our parents. From birth, we are nurtured and given everything needed for survival. Through this dependence, we develop love for our parents. When we start to learn more about the world, we come in contact with others. I am one of the many people that try to develop or adjust a child’s life for the best. I am probably one of the least important people in the process of the child’s mental and physical growth. But, some children make me feel like the most important person in the world, that only a few worthy people are lucky enough to see a child’s special light and smile.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A child’s smile is transparent. Their love can be seen through their smile. Their happiness is so innocent and unselfish, that sometimes, we have to feel like a child to feel that kind of love. Working with kids reminds me to bring myself back to childhood. I have to think, what made me happy when I was a child, what frustrated me, and how can I make that situation better for the child. The groups of children that I work with may compare and contrast to each other in different ways. The Gym’s kids are generally well behaved and easy to please. The homeless center’s kids are disrespectful, but still easy to please. A favorite activity at the homeless center is for the children to throw toys around the room when they can’t get their way. These kids need extra attention to calm down and to explain sharing to. But if I was a raging kid, I wouldn’t want to be talked to. I would need other entertainment to keep my mind on, and fast.
